Instructional design: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate.

The ADDIE Model is the most widely-used instructional-design framework, structuring training and curriculum development through five sequential phases: Analyze (learner needs, audience, context, gaps, constraints); Design (learning objectives, sequencing, assessment strategy, instructional strategies); Develop (creation of materials, content, media, prototypes); Implement (delivery to learners, instructor training, infrastructure); Evaluate (formative evaluation throughout and summative evaluation after delivery, often via Kirkpatrick's four levels). The model's origins are not from a single author — it emerged from Florida State University's Center for Educational Technology in 1975 in work for the US Army's interservice training development, with no specific 'ADDIE inventor' claim. The original five-phase military model was iterative and contained substructure within each phase; the simplified linear ADDIE familiar in current corporate training was substantially developed through the 1990s. ADDIE has been the dominant framework in corporate training, military training, and higher education instructional design for decades, with Rapid Instructional Design (RID), Successive Approximation Model (SAM), and Agile Learning Design as more recent alternatives that respond to ADDIE's perceived rigidity and Waterfall-style sequencing.
